On the surface, Dota 2 games look to be a simple videogame, yet they are difficult to master. And if you want to advance but are having trouble doing so, there are a few things you can be doing wrong.

Most individuals, on the other hand, just comprehend the basics of the game since they can’t figure out what they need to accomplish in terms of locations, strategies, and hero choosing. The majority of players follow in the footsteps of the professionals and repeat what they’ve seen them accomplish.

1. Successful Farming Techniques

Effective farming is critical in this game. If you’re a support, you’re unlikely to have your team’s farming priority. You have a chance to make a lot of gold. So keep a watch out for other gamers and don’t let them use you. You should also consider purchasing a Hand of Midas turbo support, which will assist you in obtaining gold and increasing your advantages right now.

2. Assess ambitions at all times

On all occasions, I prefer to develop push overkills. Always attempt to take targets after a good fight. After successful combat, you cannot leave someone to silently farm; instead, communicate with your colleagues and try to persuade everyone to attack together. Even something as simple as map control and an easy win might be the difference between winning a game and letting it slip through your fingers.

3. Playing Red Dota

This technique is the exact opposite of pushing the advantage. You’ll regularly find yourself in a team of five heroes, and you’ll have to wait a while or play Dota 2 matches to get out of it. To trigger opponent retaliation, your team will have to break up and push lanes.

If the enemy side continues to react against your onslaught, they will be unable to seize your base. Dota 2 games are favorable when you have elusive heroes that can sweep lanes full of creeps and then vanish before another team arrives.

4. Familiarize yourself with the game

 In recent times, a Dota 2 match might anger you. You can utilize the turbo option to play numerous low-stakes games in such instance. You won’t have to worry about losing your Dota 2 Scores due to poor or experimental play because the Dota 2 matches will be shorter and the games will be unranked. You’ll study each hero to figure out which Dota 2 games are perfect for you.

5. Fresh Heroes can be played

Dota 2 matches feature a large number of heroes and playing them all in live combat would take years. It would be the best approach to have a better understanding of each of the heroes you play in Dota 2 live score matches that you haven’t played before. You may employ this approach in turbo mode to save time during live matches. More heroes played will give you a greater grasp of the game, and you won’t be startled by any hero the next time you play a standard Dota 2 battle.

Conclusion

Because you’ll be familiar with the whole hero roster in Turbo mode, you’ll have a different viewpoint on the game. You may utilize them to get an advantage in Dota 2 matches and improve your standings. This mode will be a pleasure for novices, as they will be able to learn how to play as well as form opinions about heroes and their powers in this mode. So go to turbo mode for a while.

There are several options for iGaming lovers that want to make money playing Dota 2. Is there a way to make money playing Dota 2? These are questions that every Dota 2 player, in my opinion, has asked at least once. Many players want to achieve this, but not everyone can since the latest Dota 2 esports competition is a challenging area to be recognized, let alone survive in. So, if you’re interested, here are a few methods to earn real money while playing Dota 2 when it launches in 2022.

1. Dota 2 live Broadcast

After watching their favorite streamers play their games on sites like Twitch, many people donate to them. You can try to accomplish the same right now, but it’s not simple to develop a community and a fan base.

Many individuals do not see immediate results, so if you want to make a successful living playing Dota 2, start with a never-say-die attitude and a steady approach.

2. Taking part in eSports Tournaments

Dota 2 is currently the most profitable eSports game on the globe! They have eclipsed all previous eSports competitions in terms of prize pools, with a total prize pool of $225,722,637.06 million distributed over 1405 events. With a record-breaking $30 million on offer for their 2020 tournament, The International has the world’s highest single-event prize pool of any esports.

3. Custom Dota 2 Games are Being Created

Valve has made it possible for custom game creators to profit from Dota 2. The company has devised a pass system, in which gamers who buy a pass will receive additional perks in the custom game.

4. MMR Buying & Selling Identities

In the Dota 2 realm, buying and selling identities is major business. Some of the highest-ranked gamers rely on this as a source of revenue.

MMR Boosting services are also available, in which players join in and play from a customer’s account to win rated matches. You may do the same, although it is regarded unethical in the Dota2 community.

5. Dota 2 Betting

So you think you’ve got a handle on what’s going on in the Dota 2 professional league? Please show it to me!

If you don’t have the ability to win Dota 2 tournaments and don’t want to spend the time live streaming your game every day, betting on Dota 2 might be the answer.

On Dota 2, the most common wager is on match winnings. However, there are more exciting wagers that might result in enormous prizes, such as who will be the first to 10 kills or who will destroy the most towers.

Most online bookies provide eSports betting, including Dota 2 contests. As more states in the United States enable internet sports betting, Dota 2 betting has never been easier.

Another strategy to profit from this method is to keep an eye on the welcome bonuses available to new players and the various sites for Dota 2 betting and last but not least is finding the best site for betting on Dota 2. You can try your hand at betting if you have a thorough understanding of eSports.

Conclusion

Aside from becoming a paid player, there are other methods to make money from video games. The eSports and gaming industries are massive, and they’re just becoming bigger. As a result, new opportunities in game creation, game testing, and investment have opened up. Check out the other choices if you want to make money playing games but haven’t yet mastered Dota 2 betting.

The gaming industry continues to evolve. The same can be said for blockchain. Not surprisingly, in 2017, one company managed to combine the two into one. That’s how crypto games came about.

What are crypto games?

Crypto games are games in which participants can earn in-game currency (tokens), exchange it freely, buy various items, convert it into real cryptocurrency and then cash it out. The choice of such currencies is vast. It can be Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, Polygon, etc. Simply put, crypto games waste gamers’ time and it is, in return, monetized. This has been the impetus for many gamers to make participating in crypto games their source of income.

The principle of such games is known as Play2Earn. They come in a wide variety of genres, from arcades to shooters. As an example of a large variety of game genres, the very first game, Cryptokittens, was played. Its participants were to buy kittens, raise them, breed them and then sell them. The demand for this game was so high, and the daily volume so high, that the Ethereum blockchain had severe transaction speed failures for several months. The resulting pandemic has affected the growth in popularity of these games. Market analysis has shown that the crypto games industry has shown consistently high revenue growth since 2019.

The conclusion to be drawn from the concept of a crypto game is that it has an undeniable advantage over traditional games. It lies in the decentralization of crypto games through the introduction of blockchain technology. This, in turn, allows players to directly exchange in-game items and heroes, and sell them at any time and on any crypto marketplaces. In order to participate in these games, the gamer must have an open crypto wallet. This is where the coins will be deposited.

Also, some people refer to crypto games as ones that use cryptocurrencies to make bets in the online gambling industry (casino-howto covers it in more detail). Those are completely different beasts and we won’t touch them in this article. Further, we are going to talk about play2earn crypto games exclusively.

Alien Worlds

Alien Worlds remains the most popular crypto game and at the same time a decentralized app. It was released at the end of 2020. It was developed by the German company Dacoco. The game has broken attendance records several times. It currently has more than 2,700,000 registered players, of whom at least 300,000 play the game on a regular basis.

Its participants enter a meta-universe in which they must complete tasks, fight, earn in-game TLM currency and trade NFT items. These can be weapons, wardrobe items, a hero, cards and even a visual effect. All of these are designed to make the character stand out from the others, either as a powerhouse or as a visual superiority.

The game is set in the not too distant future year of 2055. At that time, aliens have contacted the inhabitants of planet Earth. They have shared important knowledge – how to overcome wormholes, i.e. how to move in space. Thus, the players got access to new planets, which have the main value – Trillium. This is the in-game name of the token. And here’s where the fun begins. By moving between DAOs, living this life in parallel worlds together with someone or vice versa, acting against someone, players get this very Trillium. It is what allows players to move to other worlds and earn benefits.

The player will need a WAX wallet and only a few dollars to get started. This money must be used to purchase some WAX tokens, as only then will the game be activated. In addition to activating the account, the gamer will be given the main tool, the shovel. This is how the Trillium is mined. At the moment, the game is experiencing a slight decline in everything: the value of the WAX, the TLM token and the need to upgrade the game.

Gods Unchained

In 2019, Fuel Games from Australia unveiled its vision of an NFT game. Initially, it was not a crazy success with players. It wasn’t until 2021 that there was a dramatic increase in the game’s audience. It was over 4,500%. By some estimates, there are more than 80,000 gamers participating in the game each week.

The game is set in a fantasy world inhabited by divine beings. The game works on the Play2Earn principle. You can earn GODS tokens by participating in tournaments and collecting game cards. The second is the main value. Rare cards in the game shop range in value from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars. Some gamers on specialist platforms even ask for a few hundred thousand dollars for the rarest decks. The same amount of money can be won in tournaments.

What sets this crypto game apart is its free mode. This means that you can start the game without any cash investment. Each player is given a standard pack of cards. The player’s task is to improve it in order to sell it later on. It is up to the gamer to decide whether to hold on to a card until its price goes up, or whether to sell in a hurry. Without taking part in tournaments, the game can earn an average of 500 USD a month. You don’t have to sit in front of your computer 24 hours a day for that. In my opinion, this is a very good way to earn extra income every month.

Moonray

Moonray is one of the latest NFT action games. The game is available on PC and Play Station 5 in beta mode until September 2022. Its pre-sales are actively going on the Steam gaming platform. Visually, the game is very different from all the others. It is designed in a surrealistic style.

The action is set in the future on the planet It-Ao. The deity Iltar, trapped for millennia, has created a uniquely powerful warrior and set him free to fight against forces that want to take her powers away. To earn money in the game, you need to pump up the hero. This is done by winning battles. Each victory earns you a Mirama. These can be used to buy weapons and improve skills.

Splinterlands

One of the oldest blockchain card games. In order to earn money in it, the gamer has to pay a start-up fee. It is available to absolutely everyone and is only 10 USD. After that, the participant is given a set of cards and the game starts. The gamer can earn a good income by buying and selling rare cards. I would also like to mention the possibility of renting cards. The gamer will receive 0.5% of the value of the card on the day they are leased if another player keeps it for a day. In addition, the user must create a strong deck that is capable of winning battles. In this way, the player’s monthly income can reach several tens of thousands of dollars.

The in-game currency is DEC. To withdraw it to a crypto wallet, all you have to do is specify it. Then all that remains is to exchange it for the desired cryptocurrency. This can be done on all major exchanges. Thanks to the way the tokens work on BSC, the transaction fee remains one of the lowest. Despite the game’s longevity, it is still a promising game for millions of gamers around the world.

Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity is similar to the very first NFT game. The game is set in a world called Lunacia. Its main inhabitants are animals, plants, waterfowl, trees, insects, birds and reptiles. All of the above are essentially non-interchangeable NFT items. Players can cross, enhance, sell, create a battle team and send them out to fight other gamers in real-time. The game has what is known as a mating club. This will be useful for those who only have one Axi participating inbreeding.

Despite the game’s apparent simplicity, this is not entirely true. To be successful in it and maximize profit, the gamer must develop strategies for almost every action he or she takes. The game was released in 2018. Every day, a gamer can earn up to a hundred dollars on wins. The number of regular users is growing inexorably. By 2022, their number has surpassed the 500,000 member mark. Analysts predict a further increase.

Computer games have flooded our leisure time. Today, children don’t run off to play in the backyard, but sit down at a computer or console. Needless to say, even adults kill hours playing online games, immersing themselves in fantasy worlds. Creating a successful computer game is difficult. You need a lot of factors to come together – the talents of writers, developers, and artists.

But the game must also sell, advertise. And just pure luck should not be discounted. But the most hit games have a firm place in contemporary culture. On them even make movies. Suffice it to mention in this regard Lara Croft, Doom, Resident Evil, and Super Mario. So who are they – the creators of those very gaming masterpieces?

Gabe Newell

The man who founded and still heads the company Valve Corporation. It is him who game enthusiasts owe the emergence of such hits, such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life and Steam. After being expelled from Harvard, Gabe began working for Microsoft. After 13 years with fellow developer Mike Harrington, Newell decided to start making computer games. Thus Valve was born in 1996. Financing came from the co-founders’ pockets, and the first brainchild was Half-Life. It used source code of Quake engine, but became popular among gamers. Based on this series then appeared Counter-Strike and its modifications. These iconic products are popular today, conducted by the championships in network battles simultaneously involving hundreds of players. Today, the studio’s staff is just 250 people, and the company’s value is estimated to be several billion dollars.

John Carmack

The creation of the programmer known even to people who are far from the computer industry. It’s enough to mention just the names Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein. John’s interest in computers began when he was a child. After studying only two semesters at university, Carmack decided to start an independent career. In 1991 he co-founded id Software. It became famous, in fact, thanks to Carmack a new game genre – FPS. John was the leading programmer who created many cult projects. They call him the father of Doom and Quake. Thanks to his revolutionary programming and design solutions the genre exploded the PC gaming world in the 1990s. Since then, Carmack has been involved in many projects, although today his merits are not so obvious, the iconic games remain in people’s hearts. Currently, Carmack and his team are busy designing spaceships, but at the same time working at id Software on the continuation of his legendary series.

Sid Meyer

Thanks to this man, many have been able to feel like they are the masters of humanity’s destiny. And the Civilization series helped them do just that. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Meyer founded his own company, MicroProse. There he began to develop games for the first personal computers – Commodore and Atari. A new industry was born that demanded a wide variety of software. In 1991 Civilization, a simulation of humanity’s evolution, was released. Since then the series has only been improved, giving new games. New generations have already appeared, trends and tendencies have changed. Meyer has been scolded and criticized, but his brainchild has remained popular. Civilization is loved by people of all ages in all parts of the world. The secret of this success lay in his special approach to product development. Meyer has always produced topical games without fear of using modern technology. At the same time, the charming, gripping atmosphere of the early parts of the series has been retained. Since Meyer departed the company has gone out of business, with Sid now working as development director at Firaxis Game.

Chris Metzen

Metzen has one major advantage over the other masters of game development – versatility. Chris paints, scripts, produces, does voice-overs, and is a multi-talented individual who has helped Blizzard produce such blockbusters as Diablo, Warcraft, and Starcraft. It’s no coincidence that Metzen is Vice President of Creative Development. Metzen not only invents new game plots but also writes books on the universe of the worlds he’s created. Chris joined the company in the mid-90s as an artist and animator. He had a small part in the creation of Warcraft, but the second game in the series became his full-fledged brainchild. Thanks to Metzen, the game became unique. However, Chris has been accused of both plagiarism and self-plagiarism. Some of his plots are borrowed from already created games, and the characters miraculously resurrected. Metzen works from morning till late at night, demanding full commitment from his subordinates. Chris personally checks all the quests created by his staff, which confirms his fanatical attitude towards his work.

Peter Molyneux

This developer’s fame comes from his brainchildren such as Populous, Syndicate, Fable, and Black@White. Peter’s father ran a toy factory, which determined Molyneux’s own interest. However, he decided to pursue an independent career, setting up a small accounting and games software firm. His first serious game was a business simulation game Enterpreneur, released in 1984. That project flopped, which frustrated the young man. The text game was unfamiliar and challenging for the audience. Molyneux decided to devote all his energies to game development. In 1987 Bullfrog Productions Studio was born. Its third project, Populous, brought Molyneux world fame. It can be argued that this developer has created such a genre in computer games, a “God Simulator”. His most famous subsequent hits and were created in this direction. It is said that Molyneux came up with the idea of such games through his observation of ants. Peter was also behind the creation of the famous strategy game Syndicate, and created the RPG series Fable. In 1997 Molyneux left his brainchild, bought out by the giant Electronic Arts, and created a new studio Lionhead.

Todd Howard

This genius game designer also acts as a producer and game director at Bethesda Game Studios. Thanks to him, the Fallout 3 game was released, and the legendary The Elder Sсrolls series is already more than 14 years old. And then there’s Redguard, Morrowind and Obvilion. Respected magazines rank Howard among the most influential people in the gaming industry. Thanks to him, the object of fans’ adoration, Fallout, was able to return from the oblivion. It is safe to say that Howard is the studio’s greatest asset. He himself, however, has not become a star, but continues to constantly generate new ideas that are implemented in games. Howard is considered to be a fun-loving man, while also being quite humble. This producer often appears at various specialized events and he presents his products in the media. According to Howard, Bethesda games have a special philosophy – to let people live a different life in a different world.

Drew Karpyshyn

This Canadian writer has Ukrainian roots. Drew got into the computer world when he got a job as a game designer in Wizards of the Coast. Then there was Bioware, where Karpyshyn created many of his masterpieces. He wrote the script and almost all of the dialogues in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Karpyshyn worked on Jade Empire, Neverwinter Nights, and the Baldur Gate series. During this time, the writer also created several novels set in the Star Wars and Forgotten Realms universes. It was Karpyshyn who inspired the famous Mass Effect series of fantasy role-playing games. In February 2012, the famous computer screenwriter left Bioware to pursue his own projects. The thing is, that his work on games interfered with his scripts. But we know, thanks to whom the popular Bioware games were so interesting.

Markus Persson

From the age of seven Markus started programming on Commodore 128 home computer. Persson worked for king.com until 2009, developing games for them. No one knew anything about this Swedish programmer and his studio Mojang AB, founded in 2009. But his sandbox game, Minecraft, has exploded the gaming industry. The game took Marcus just a week to develop. Players are given blocks from which to build labyrinths and piles. The game has become very popular on the Internet. In just a couple of months, 3 million people have bought it. Persson himself has now retired from active business. His projects are continued by employees of the studio. The genius programmer is part of an organization of people with the highest IQ, sometimes creating for people just like himself. His game 0x10c, for example, requires people to be able to program in Assembler for an invented processor.

Ken Levine

Ken studied drama in college and even wrote a couple of film scripts before getting into the gaming industry. He became a game designer in 1995. Levine understood that for any meaningful game, special attention must be paid to the story. At the same time, the storyline should have a lot of unexpected turns and abound in shocking denouements. That is the reason, why Ken’s main products Bioshock and System Shock 2 were so exciting, because he had his own ideas in them. The fans appreciated these products. Ken has released many other products as the head of Irrational Games. This is a role-playing game Freedom Force, and tactical shooter SWAT 4. In 2013 Ken Levine is going to release Bioshock Infinite, where the world around him will shock the player and aggravate his fears. Levine and his team have been able to create deep computer-generated characters. Players get to know their complex life stories and additional storylines emerge to complement the characters. The secret to Levine’s success is that he truly loves his work.

Shigeru Miyamoto

In the gaming industry, this Japanese man is a cult figure. After all, it was he who created such famous video game series as Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda. In 1980, the young Shigeru began working for Nintendo as an artist. He was commissioned to design games for arcade machines. In the early years, Miyamoto’s designs cost the company money, but his Donkey Kong garnered widespread love from gamers. Over time, the bouncing man became the famous Mario. This character became the protagonist of many video games, and time has no power over him. Miyamoto’s games feature original worlds with hidden secrets and new levels. Miyamoto is now the General Manager of Nintendo EAD, competing with Microsoft and Sony. Shigeru himself still spends a fair amount of time playing video games. One of his most recent successful projects has been the Nintendo Wii console. Despite his high status and fame in the games industry, the Japanese man remains a humble man, often travelling to work by bicycle.

Hideo Kojima

In 1986, the Japanese man was hired by Konami. The first project released was Metal Gear for MSX 2 consoles. We can say that the game marked the beginning of the stealth-action genre. Some of its elements were used before, but Kojima shaped this genre as we know it now. The hero had to constantly hide and evade from the battles. In 1990, the sequel to the game, Metal Gear Solid, was released. The core gameplay didn’t change, but the story became much deeper. When the game was released for the PS, the designer became a celebrity. A total of over two dozen titles in the series were released on various platforms. When the Japanese left Konami, it seemed that his games were finished. However, Kojima managed to establish his own studio, which continued the main business of his life. Projects in the Metal Gear universe can now be seen on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS.

Cliff Blesinski

It is said that Cliff wrote his first game when he was 12 years old. It was called Spermatoza and dealt with the adventures of a spermatozoon on its way to an egg. Not surprisingly, that’s what the preoccupied teenager was interested in. After all, at that age, it is computers and girls that many begin to worry about. The passion for both only intensified with age. The first commercial game was written by Cliff in 17 tapes in the genre of pixel-hunting quest. Blesinski is now the managing designer of Epic Games. It is to him that players owe the appearance of such iconic games as Unreal and Gears of War. Admittedly, CliffyB is hardly a workaholic. He loves clubbing, expensive cars, and pretty girls. He uses his millions and fame to the fullest.

David Yaffe.

This game designer graduated from the University of Southern California. The American wanted to go to film school and become a director, but didn’t get in. Then Jaffe entered the world of computer games. His most famous creations are God of War and Twisted Metal. It is unknown what kind of director Jaffe would have become, but two of his games were included in the list of 25 best games for Playstation 2 ever made on the platform. God of War, meanwhile, has been placed at the top of the list altogether. In 2007 Jaffe set up his own studio, which immediately signed an exclusive contract with Sony to create games exclusively for their products. In 2012 Twisted Metal was released for PS3. Jaffe is a unique personality among the developers, because he is in close contact with public. David gives interviews and writes his own blog, where he discusses not only games, but also his personal views on life.

Hironobu Sakaguchi

This Japanese game designer gave the world such series as Final Fantasy. Sakaguchi’s story is in many ways similar to that of Miyamoto. Both of them worked for companies that were on the verge of closure. But while Nintendo suffered directly because of Miyamoto, at Square, where Sakaguchi worked, things were initially not going well. In a state of uncertainty, the designer came up with what he thought would be his last game in the job. It was called Final Fantasy. The game was released in 1987 on the NES platform. Suddenly this product became very popular. Plans to close Square were immediately put to rest, and Sakaguchi began work on a sequel. In 1991, he became vice president of the company, and in 1995 he was already the president. All of the games in this unusual universe were released under his control. Sakaguchi even released the animated film The Last Fantasy, which failed at the box office. The designer then left his home company to form Mistwalker Studios. It now creates games for Microsoft and Nintendo.

William Wright

In Louisiana, Wright began studying architecture, but then unexpectedly transferred to mechanical engineering. He was fascinated by robots and computers. He never finished his studies, because games took up all of Wright’s free time. As a result, he decided that the development of such programs suited him just right. In 1987, the Maxis Company was created, which released its biggest hit in 1989 – SimCity. This simulator offered to build your own city, design its communications, and distribute income. Many other games were released based on SimCity but have not gained such popularity. Building ant colonies was not as interesting as controlling the destinies of thousands of citizens. Wright, however, developed a reputation as a great software game designer, which could not be lost or won. In 200, the designer released a new project, the idea for which he hatched a long time – Sims. Now, the player was invited to manage the life of a single family in their house. In 2008, another of Wright’s landmark projects, Spore, was released. This game proposed the evolution of a single-celled organism, creating an entire civilization of intelligent creatures.

The console and mobile game market is growing, and therefore finding the right engine is not as easy a task as it may seem. Technology platforms that have already proven their effectiveness “in the field” will be the obvious favourites of many developers. However, the market is volatile, and therefore the question of engine selection will not lose its relevance in the near future. Let me show you the top ten best ones.

Unity3D

Unity3D is an excellent engine available. It has a number of undeniable advantages over its competitors and perhaps the key one is that you only pay for the license once. No matter how popular a game becomes, if you choose Unity, you won’t have to pay that one more time. Financially, it’s a good decision, especially for start-ups and aspiring developers.

Pros:

Advantageous licensing policy;
ease of use;
compatibility with any platform;
excellent community;
low entry threshold;
popular with developers (which means bugs are quickly found and fixed).

Cons:

Limited toolset (you’ll probably have to develop some of them yourself);
the process of making a game is time consuming.

Unreal Engine

Unreal Engine is one of the most popular engines for AAA game development. Gears of War, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Mass Effect – all of these hits were made on it.

Pros:

Since plenty of developers use it, Unreal Engine has arguably the best community among the competition. Several hours of video tutorials confirm this;
excellent tech support and update mechanism;
new tools are released with every update
Wide range of tools for different purposes (some are so easy to use that even a schoolboy can operate them)
compatible with various platforms (iOS, Android, Linux, Mac, Windows and most others)
new licensing policy includes a $19/month subscription and 5% royalty if the game earns more than $5,000, making the engine much more attractive to developers than before.

Cons:

Subjective. Some developers complain that certain tools are difficult to get used to

CryEngine 3

If the game’s visuals are your thing, it is the CryEngine 3 that you need.

Pros:
The Flowgraph feature will help embellish your game with great graphics;
Fmod feature set to create a powerful soundtrack;
the easiest AI creation process in the segment;
it will be easy for a novice developer to make a UI.

Cons:
Relatively sloppy tech support for the free version;
since the engine is relatively new to the industry, it has yet to build a strong community;
a relatively high threshold of entry.

HeroEngine

Has a proven track record in multiplayer games – take Star Wars: The Old Republic. The license is quite expensive and unlikely to suit aspiring developers, but if your project is ambitious, I would advise considering this option.

Pros:
There are several maps available to create an open world. There’s an option to connect them “seamlessly”;
fabulously powerful AI!
handy set of tools for modelling maps;
suitable for creating complex missions, crafting and gathering resources;
tech support via HeroCloud, which is very handy.

Cons:
The scripting engine is powerful, but awkward to manage;
HeroEngine along with the HeroCloud customer support service is too expensive and unlikely to be available to novice developers;
high entry threshold.

Rage Engine

Few can compete with the wide range of features that the Rage Engine provides. Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption and many other acclaimed projects are made with this engine.

Pros:
Ample opportunities to create large worlds and weather effects;
powerful AI;
multiple gameplay styles to choose from;
fast network code.

Cons:
The engine interface is relatively awkward;
controls are poorly optimised for keyboard and mouse.

Project Anarchy

This powerful game engine is loved by many developers for its clear and straightforward documentation. However, it also has its shortcomings.

Pros:
If you plan to develop games on iOS, Android and Tizen platforms, the license is free;
powerful bugfinding and troubleshooting tools;
strong community;
the publisher provides clear, understandable documentation and samples;
Fmod for audio support;
Powerful Havok AI.

Cons:
No ability to develop the game on Mac and Linux;
No introductory tutorial for novice developers;
If the game is for PC, it will cost you a pretty penny to license.

GameSalad

The creators of this popular game engine promise that you won’t have to write a single line of code. Generally speaking, this is true. But you have to pay for all the good stuff: the engine has a number of significant drawbacks. If you’re going to develop an iPhone game on your own, this is your choice.

Pros:
Free license (you will only be charged for the PRO version);
active community;
Excellent engine for rapid prototyping;
Compatibility with popular mobile platforms such as Cocona and Moai.

Cons:
limited set of development tools;
no access to most features of the iOS platform.

GameMaker: Studio

If you’re a novice developer looking for a simple and straightforward development engine, GameMaker: Studio is the right one for you.

The pros:
Simple and intuitive operation;
Proprietary Game Maker Language (GML);
Steam integration;
cross-platform.
Cons:

Relatively difficult to troubleshoot the game;
you will have to pay a hefty fee to export your game to popular platforms.

App Game Kit

App Game Kit is a cross-platform software for developers. Appreciated for its versatility and ease of use.

Pros:
Allows you to write code for major platforms: Android iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux;
comes bundled with an IDE, which allows you to test games on any device;
already includes IAP, AdMob and Push without additional installation;
has powerful scripts for 2D graphics, physics and networking.

Cons:
as few people work with this engine, the software’s shortcomings take a long time to fix (relatively weak tech support);
lots of bugs (which organically follows from the previous point).

Cocos2D

Many designers consider Cocos2D as one of the few engines with high adaptability and at the same time perfectly adapted for novice developers.

Pros:
Perfectly integrated into the iOS platform;
free and open source;
wide range of development tools;
strong community support.

Cons:
More complex to use than most peers;
high entry threshold;
“Specifically designed for Mac or iOS. No cross-platform.
In conclusion, I say: people play games on consoles, mobile devices, PCs, and even on TV – so a developer can always find an engine that suits their purposes. I hope my article will help you make your choice and successfully enter the ever-growing game industry.
